We ordered five dishes. First of which is our appetizer- Green mango salad with salted egg!
Smells like what we used to make in the province!! The cilantro is perfect with it. |
We tried to eat it tiny portions at a time because we like it as accompaniment to fried fish, which we ordered next... |
Binukadkad na Tilapia. |
As the name implies, the deep fried tilapia is "binukadkad" meaning "fully opened" like a rose blossom does when it is in full bloom. This made the presentation perfect, not your usual deep fried whole fish just sitting on the plate. The sauce, of course, made from vinegar, soy sauce and maybe a hint of sugar complemented the tilapia very well.
Next stop is once again one of my most recommended... and my mom's too! The reason why she asked us to wait patiently... (Yup, she's been here several times already compared to me being a first-timer)
Spicy Tahong. |
I am used to eating very spicy food so my taste buds don't really pick up mild spicy flavor anymore. This one is in that category so I'm a little bit disappointed. But over-all, I loved it! The coconut milk gave it a slight sweetness that made this dish appetizing and the hint of spice is perfect for those who are not really used to very spicy food. In short, it will just play in your mouth.
Then we also had my sister's all-time favorite! and one of the key Filipino dishes my colleagues all over the world typically remember when it comes to Filipino food...
Unlike other chopsuey varieties this one tastes authentic maybe because of the nice proportion of ingredients they put inside. They had pork shreds, tainga ng daga (a type of mushroom) etc. unlike other restaurants who put loads of cabbage in their chopsuey overshadowing the other essential ingredients. This one is a thumbs up!
Burp!! haaaaa.... My belly is still full after that awesome meal! Would have tried their dessert but unfortunately, my tummy can't accommodate it any longer. And so, that's it for now!
Nice homey ambience complete with traditional capiz windows. |
